Job Description

Position Summary:

Manages the intimate community specializing in Memory Care and Assisted Living. Facilitates understanding and application of the mission and values into all organizational decisions, policies, programs, practices, and strategic planning. Manages, coordinates, directs, and maintains an efficient, productive, and organized community structure. Responsible for maintaining ministry compliance based upon regulations governing the ministry. Responsible for developing and adhering to departmental budgets within ministry guidelines. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.  Functions as the licensed administrator of record to meet regulatory intent.

Job Responsibilities:

•        Assumes responsibility for forecasting, planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating all community services and programs.

•        Ensures that funds are collected and expended according to policy and to the best advantage of the community.

•        Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies governing the community health care delivery.

•        Ensures mechanisms are in place to provide high quality of care and services within the community.

•        Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient operation through timely and effective resolution of grievances from residents, families, and staff.

•        Oversees all community development activities related to new product development.

•        Ensures that the appropriate Ascension Living standardized operational and administrative policies, procedures and processes are communicated and implemented.

•        Negotiates contracts meeting needs of the community and maintains contract(s) in Ascension Living contract management software.

•        Prioritizes quality improvement programs and person-respected care initiatives.

•        Supports and facilitates creativity, innovation, and cost-effective continuous improvement efforts as they relate to operations and quality of service rendered to residents.

•        Assumes responsibility, administrative authority, and accountability for the supervision of nursing care provided to those we serve.

•        Manages and monitors the department’s activities by effectively communicating policies, expected outcomes, efficient work routines, and work procedures to the nursing staff.

•        Responsible for collaboratively developing, implementing and evaluating quality of care standards.

•        Monitors admissions, discharges, and transfers to assure appropriate care and compliance with State and/or Federal regulations.

•        Assumes responsibility for enhancing professional knowledge and skills through participation in educational programs and seminars.

•        Other duties as assigned.



Management Responsibilities:

  • •        Directly supervises or oversees the supervision of community staff, ensuring compliance with Ascension Living policies and procedures.

  • •        Ensures staffing guidelines and make nursing assignments according to qualifications of staff and characteristics of the resident population.

  • •        Works with Human Resources Department to recruit, interview, select, orient, and maintain a skilled clinical team.

  • •        Coaches, develops and evaluates a dedicated, high performing staff.

  • •        Oversees supervision of clinical staff compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment, and blood borne pathogens, hazardous material handling and fire safety.

  • •        Ensures HIPAA compliance with resident and employee information.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • •        Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • •        LPN or RN preferred

  • •        Three years nursing management experience in senior care preferred

  • •        Experience with working in an integrated health care system preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • •        Valid license as a registered nurse (RN) or practical nurse (LPN) in the state in which employed preferred.

  • •        CPR Certification preferred

  • •        Must have/be willing to get a Home for the Aged/Assisted Living Facility Administrator license

  • •  Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal, organizational, detail oriented, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to create a high-performance, effective team that can produce consistent, demonstrated results.

  • •        Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and other leaders.

  • •        Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and personal commitment, possess strong analytical skills, be able to work independently and manage multiple deliverables at the same time.

  • •        Must demonstrate a passion to succeed be self-motivated, dependable, committed, and a willingness to see a project through to its conclusion.

  • •        Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations and reimbursement.

  • •        Ability to learn and master new technology.

  • •        Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

  • •        Occasionally required to push and pull items, such as resident/patient beds, requiring a force of up to 75 pounds

  • •        Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and 7 pounds constantly.

  • •        Required to obtain assistance of another qualified associate when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.

  • •        Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds above the head.

  • •        Occasionally required to assist in maneuvering resident/patients weighing 100-400 pounds and occasionally required to assist in maneuvering resident/patients weighing over 400 pounds.

  • •        Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, pushing and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead, crouching and kneeling.

  • •        Constantly able to effectively communicate.

  • •        Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position.

  • •        Tolerate standing and walking for up to 8 hours at a time on hard and soft surfaces.

  • •        Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as voices and phone calls.

  • •        Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.

  • •        Constantly required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues.

Working Conditions:

Position is Category I of Potential Exposure. Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for every employee engaging in Category I tasks. Frequently exposed to blood, body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles, and sharp objects potentially contaminated with blood borne pathogens or other infectious agents.

•        The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

•        Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated and air- conditioned environment.

•        Subject to frequent interruptions by staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers.

•        Subject occasionally to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
