Job Description

We are looking to fill our Assistant Director of Nursing Position at Carondelet Place In Kansas City, MO. There is a $3,000 Retention Bonus available for this position paid out at designated intervals over the first year of employment. This position has competitive compensation, 23 paid days off, outstanding benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Retirement Savings benefits.
Assists in the management, coordination and maintenance of an efficient, productive, and organized clinical department. In absence of the Director of Nursing (DON), shall have administrative authority over and responsibility for the functions and activities of the nursing department. Demonstrates knowledge of and delivers care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the State in which employed. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.  

  • Works cooperatively and efficiently with departmental ministry leadership. 

  • Assists in developing, organizing and implementing clinical services and programs. 

  • Effectively communicates policies, expected outcomes, efficient work routines, and work procedures to the clinical staff. 

  • Assists with implementation and evaluation of quality of care including on-going auditing of Quality Indicators. 

  • Assures adherence to clinical policies and procedures within departmental guidelines. 

  • Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers to assure appropriate care and compliance with State and/or Federal regulations. 

  • Assumes administrative authority for clinical departments in the absence of the DON. 

  • Assist in maintaining nursing budgets. 

  • Assumes a ministry presence that monitors resident care. 

  • Oversees completion of clinical documentation per ministry policy, and State and Federal regulations  Follows regulatory and ministry standards, policies, procedures and precautions in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment 

  • Assumes responsibility for enhancing professional knowledge and skills through participation in educational programs and seminars. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested 


  • Interprets existing policies and procedures to licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants, certified medication aides, residents, and families. 

  • Supervises staff, evaluates the provision of direct resident care, and initiates corrective action as necessary. 

  • Follows staffing guidelines and make nursing assignments according to qualifications of staff and characteristics of the resident population. 

  • Participates in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the clinical performance of licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants and certified medications aides to the DON. 

  • Monitors staff compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment, blood borne pathogens, hazardous material handling and fire safety.

Job Requirements


  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.

  • BSN from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Three years nursing management experience in senior care preferred.

  • Experience with current and emerging delivery systems with capability of implementing changes as needed.


  • Long Term Care – Valid license as a registered nurse in the state in which employed required.

  • CPR Certification required for LTC upon hire, or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.


  • Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to create a high-performance, effective team that can produce consistent, demonstrated results.

  • Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and ministry leadership.

  • Competencies needed for this position include strong interpersonal relationship skills, detail oriented, work in collaboration with others, demonstrate a high degree of integrity and personal commitment, possess strong analytical skills, be able to work independently and manage multiple deliverables at the same time.

  • Ability to function in a matrix environment and demonstrate a passion to succeed be self-motivated, dependable, committed, and a willingness to see a project through to its conclusion.

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
