Position Summary

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the daily clinical operations of resident care within the community.  Administrative responsibilities include providing development of future health care delivery strategies, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achievement of high quality resident care standards which are compliant with state and federal regulations.
  • Assumes responsibility for forecasting, planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating all clinical services and programs.
  • Assumes responsibility, administrative authority and accountability for the supervision of nursing care provided to those we serve.
  • Assumes responsibility, administrative authority and accountability for the Quality Assurance program within ASL.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of the Health Center Nursing Department’s budget.
  • Monitors admissions, discharges and transfers to assure appropriate care and compliance with State and/or Federal regulations.
  • Ensures that the Policies and Procedures of the Health Center are updated and in compliance with State and Federal requirements.
  • Assists in the recruitment and hiring of clinical staff members.
  • Serves as a temporary substitute for Health Center personnel.
  • Is a member of the Weekend Call rotation.
  • Serves as a community resource for nursing and long term care related issues.
  • Attends in-services and meetings as needed.
  • Other reasonable responsibilities as facility changes and needs dictate, as requested by the Administrator or CEO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • BSN from an accredited college or university desired.
  • Three years nursing management experience in senior care preferred.
  • Experience with current and emerging delivery systems with capability of implementing changes as needed.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Long Term Care – Valid license as a registered nurse in the state in which employed required.
  • Assisted Living - Valid license as a practical or vocational nurse (LPN or LVN) in the state which employed required. RN Preferred.
  • CPR Certification required for LTC upon hire, or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
